Drive to Godavari & hike

Drive to Godavari & hike uphill to Phulchoki for about 4 hrs. Admire the view from the top then hike/descend down & drive back to Kathmandu.

Description

Phulchowki is the highest of the mountains which encircles the Kathmandu Valley. It is 2760m high. It is situated above Godavari village which is 1525m high. This sub-tropical forest is richest for birds, over 570 species of flowering plants and wildlife in the valley. It is also the most convenient place to see those birds who are rare in Nepal. Pulchowki and Godavari forest are famous internationally for the richness of flaura and fauna but especially butterflies and birds. Phulchowki is also a one of the last surviving cloud forest in Central Nepal. This mountain is famous for the snowfall which sometimes occurs in January or February, which is quite rare in Kathmandu Valley.

Tour guide
We have a team of highly experienced and professionally trained tour guides who are thoroughly versed in culture and history of each place of the places you will be visiting.

Tour Availability
We operate Phulchoki Hiking Day Tour privately with your personal guide as per your required dates or as group joining basis. Group joining basis tour departs every Saturdays.

Vehicle
We use comfortable car/mini-van for the transfers. For up to 2 people, car is provided and mini-van is for the group of 3-10 people.

Tour duration
The total tour duration is about 5-6 hours. After breakfast, your guide will meet you at the hotel and drive to the hike-start-point. It’s approximately 4 hours to reach to the top, spend some time and descend down to the exit point.

Clothing
Clothing varies with the type of tour and season. It’s warm in Kathmandu from April to October-end and from November to March-end, days are usually warm but evening colder. Summer clothes are okay during the day time but the evening requires a light jackets. Winter is from December till February so bring along sufficient winter wears like jackets, sweaters, trousers etc. Or you can purchase clothes of your choice in Kathmandu clothing stores too.

During the Pulchoki Hiking, light clothes and good walking shoes are recommended. But pack along a light jacket too as it might get cold at the hilltop.

Meals
Packed lunch is provided during the hiking program. Upon reaching the top, enjoy your packed lunch observing the Kathmandu Valley and the surrounding mountains

Backpack (size depends on whether or not you have porters)
Hiking boots* (break them in beforehand)
Camp shoes (your reward after a long day)
Wool socks (bring a few pairs of varying thickness)
Lightweight trekking pants
Trekking shorts
T-Shirts (lightweight wool is great)
