Kathmandu is a most striking and rich art and tradition valley. Culture adapted by the people is unique in Kathmandu. Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal, main attraction of Kathmandu tours are Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square , Living goddess Kumari Temple , Akash Bhairav Temple, Kasthamandap, Singha Durbar, Narayanhity Durbar, Budhanilkantha (Sleeping Vishnu), Dakshinkali, National Museum, Natural History Museum etc. Some of the famous places are listed in world heritage sites that declared by UNESCO these are Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa and Swyambhunath, chagunarayan temple and Swayambhunath.

The history of the city of Kathmandu, which is inseparable from that of the Kathmandu valley, dates back to ancient times. Archaeological explorations indicate that Kathamandu and the two other sister towns in the valley were the oldest towns and are traced to the period between 167 B.C. and 1 A.D. Excavations conducted at Hadigaon and Lubhu in southern part of the valley, in Kathmandu, have unearthed brick walls and stone age tools. The Buddha was also born in 563 B.C in the Kapilvastu District of Nepal near the Indian border.

Kathmandu is the capital and largest metropolitan city of Nepal. The city is the urban core of the Kathmandu valley in the Himalayas, which also contains two sister cities namely Patan andBhaktapur It is also acronym as 'KTM'. The city stands at an elevation of approximately 1,400 metres (4,600 ft) in the bowl-shaped valley in central Nepal surrounded by four major mountains, namely: Shivapuri, Phulchowki, Nagarjun and Chandragiri. We would have never made it without them! Krishna made sure our guides were well taken care of and well rested before each leg of the trek, which made us feel slightly less guilty that they were carrying about ten times as much as we were.
